The Ridge Theatre: Another of Vancouver’s single screen movie houses set to close, be demolished.

2013 has started with much for Vancouverites who care about culture and heritage to be concerned about, with the growing apprehension over the future of the Waldorf Hotel, and now the long foretold demolition of the Ridge Theatre becoming reality. In a young city where real estate development is a major economic factor, it seems many buildings are caught in the gray area of not being considered worthy of heritage status, and yet have earned a place in the historic fabric of this city. I was happy/sad to be allowed into the Ridge Theatre to document it’s existence before its date with the wrecking ball next month.

You can also see images of the ,now closed but still standing, Hollywood Theatre here.
