Indie Convenience Stores of Vancouver: 959 Est 35th Ave

Having lived in several other canadian cities, I don’t recall any of them having as many lone convenience stores set deep in the heart of neighbourhoods. Even in the smallest towns, the corner stores all seemed to be on the main thoroughfares, next to other commercial shops. Not so here. There are many small stores that seem to be dedicated to a specific area. Like this un-named shop that looks as though it is from a western movie set and has remained largely unchanged through the decades. Does your neighbourhood have its own shop?

Love your series of photos on old time corner stores. One location that you might be interested in photographing, if you are not already aware of it, is at the corner of 28th Ave and St. George Street. The current store, Le Marche St. George sells gourmet specialty foods and goods, however I believe it was formerly a mom and pop style corner convenience store. Very interesting looking architecture on what appears to be a very old building. Just thought I’d pass this along in case you are interested.

Thank-you for the comment and the suggestion! There are so many great shops I know I can’t find them all on my own.
